Looking for something specific?

Our treatment pages go into clinical detail on each condition, including what causes it and how we treat it.

About these articles: everything here is written by the clinical team at Podiatry Healthcare Group and reviewed by Gideon Poratt, Principal Podiatrist (B.App.Sc (Pod), M.A.Pod.A), a member of the Australian Podiatry Association. It is general information intended to help you understand your feet — not a substitute for an assessment.

Why we publish these

Most of what we write here started as a question asked across the treatment chair. How long will this take to get better? Do I actually need the expensive insoles? Will the laser really fix this nail?

Those are good questions, and the honest answers are more useful than the marketing versions. If reading one of these articles saves you an appointment you did not need, that is a fair outcome. If it convinces you to finally deal with something you have been ignoring for two years, even better.

When to stop reading and book

General information has limits. Book an assessment if pain has lasted more than two weeks, is changing how you walk, or is stopping you doing something you want to do.

Seek care promptly — rather than reading further — if you have diabetes and any new foot problem, if a wound is not healing, if a foot is red, hot and swollen, or if you cannot bear weight after an injury.

This page is general information, not personal medical advice. Reviewed by Gideon Poratt, Principal Podiatrist (B.App.Sc (Pod), M.A.Pod.A), a member of the Australian Podiatry Association. Please book an assessment for advice specific to your feet.
