Windsor has the widest hours of our four clinics, including a 6pm finish four evenings a week, which is why it suits people who cannot take time out of a working day. The fortnightly Saturday morning books out first.

Finding us, and where to park

Number 6-10 sits on Chapel Street in Windsor, at the quieter southern end of the strip rather than up in the thick of the South Yarra shops. Consulting rooms are on Level 1. You can take the stairs if you would rather, but there is also a lift, which matters more than people expect: a good number of our patients arrive limping, in a moon boot, on crutches, with a walking frame, or pushing a pram, and a staircase is the last thing you want at that point. If you would like a hand finding the lift, say so when you book and we will watch for you.

If you are coming by public transport, Windsor station is a short walk away and trams run the length of Chapel Street, which is why this clinic suits people who work in the city or study nearby and would rather not drive. If you are driving, Chapel Street kerbside spaces turn over quickly and fill up as the day goes on. The residential side streets running off Chapel are usually the easier option, though signage and restrictions vary street by street, so please read the signs before you walk off. Give yourself a few extra minutes the first time so you arrive settled rather than flustered.

What we treat at Windsor

This is a full-service podiatry clinic, not a satellite room for one or two procedures. On any given day here we are working on heel and arch pain, forefoot pain, Achilles and shin complaints, knee and hip pain that traces back to how the foot loads, ingrown toenails and nail surgery, corns and callus, blisters and skin problems, children’s feet, and diabetes-related foot assessments.

Where we think the mechanics of your foot are driving the problem, we will say so and explain the options honestly, whether that is a change of footwear, a strengthening or loading programme, a prefabricated device, or custom orthotics. Not everyone who walks in with sore feet needs orthotics, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a pair. The laser room

Windsor is the clinic most associated with our laser work. We use a GenesisPlus Nd:YAG 1064nm laser, which is FDA-cleared, for two problems in particular.

The first is fungal nail infection, where roughly 85% of patients see a successful result after two to three sessions. The second is plantar warts, where most patients see results within two to four sessions. Treatment is needle-free, and you walk back out and get on with your day. Your first visit, step by step

Expect a conversation before anything else. We want to know what hurts, when it started, what makes it worse, what you have already tried, and what you are trying to get back to, whether that is a half marathon or a shift on your feet without counting down the hours. From there we look at the foot itself, assess how you stand and move, check joint range and muscle strength where it is relevant, and examine skin and nails.

You will leave with a plain-language explanation of what is going on and a plan you actually understand, including what you can start doing yourself. Bring the shoes you spend the most time in, any orthotics you already own, and any scans or reports if you have had imaging done. Socks are helpful too if you are coming straight from work.

On the money side: we have HICAPS at every clinic, so if you have extras cover with any major Australian health fund you claim on the spot and only pay the gap. If you live with a chronic condition such as diabetes, arthritis or vascular disease, your GP may be able to put you on an Enhanced Primary Care plan, which brings a Medicare rebate toward podiatry. DVA Gold Card holders and WorkCover patients need a referral; everybody else can simply book. We take Visa, Mastercard and EFTPOS.

Who we look after around here

Windsor draws a genuinely mixed group, and the clinic list reflects it. We see people from Windsor, Prahran, South Yarra, St Kilda, Armadale, Toorak and Balaclava, often because we are the closest podiatry rooms they can reach without a car.

A lot of the work here involves people who are on their feet all day in hospitality and retail along Chapel Street, runners and gym-goers who have pushed their training a little too hard a little too fast, and apartment dwellers who have swapped a car commute for walking and are suddenly clocking far more kilometres than their shoes were built for. We also look after long-time local residents, families bringing children in for growing feet and gait concerns, and people managing diabetes who need their feet checked properly on a regular basis. Windsor is also the clinic that patients from St Kilda and Malvern East come to, since we no longer have rooms in either.
